KAGARLYK

Chondrite L6
Fall, June 30, 1908
Ukraine, Kiev region
One stone weighing 1.9 kg

On June 30, 1908, the Tunguska catastrophe occurred. An unknown cosmic body exploded in Earth's atmosphere and knocked down more than 1250 km 2 of forest near the Podkamennaya Tunguska river. It was the most powerful cosmic event recorded in human history.

On the same day, the meteorite Kagarlyk fell near Kiev. However, no connection between these events has been confirmed.
